I’m here at the annual conference for Healing Touch International, and what a wonderful group of people are here! They are kind, heart-centered and open-minded. It is wonderful to be in their company, and to see how well they are doing after their own internal shake-ups in the last year.
It’s also wonderful to be with a group of nurses in which my doctor credentials are not a barrier to our connection and friendship. This doctor/nurse dysfunctional dance has been going on for quite some time, and we are now seeing people on all sides breaking down the barriers and relating as human beings. I am aware that much of this healing within groups has to start with healing within each individual, and it does my heart good to see that this inner work is being done on a larger scale than it has in the past.
The AHMA has decided to be on the forefront of building bridges, of bringing people from different holistic trainings and backgrounds into partnership with each other. This is the path of right relationship, and I am honored to be a part of this mission that is greater than all of us. As Diane May, the President of Therapeutic Touch International, said while building bridges of her own here at the conference, “If those of us in the holistic professions can’t find a way to get along, who in the world can?”
Has the whole FDA investigation into estriol been a problem in your life or your practice? Here is a letter from Jonathan Wright, MD, who has been advocating on doctors’ and patients’ behalf to retain the right to prescribe this medication for those going through menopause. He is urgently asking for your help to get the FDA to give us the right to prescribe estriol without the red tape they are planning to add to the process. If you feel that this is a worthwhile cause, then please read through his letter, copy and paste the letter at the end, and send it to the FDA. If you are not a doctor but a patient who wants the right to make these decisions without interference from the FDA, then please edit the letter to fit your voice and send it on…(more)
Applied Kinesiology uses muscle testing to help make health and treatment decisions. Here are some interesting comments from someone using applied kinesiology in their practice. I would love to hear any comments you all might have.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There are two very similar forms of kinesiology, one taught by chiropractors: NRTesting - Ulan Nutritional Systems, and the other by D.Klinghardt, MD, PhD, called ART.
Although there are numerous holistic practitioners that use kinesiology, it is not mentioned at the websites of AHNA, NIH CAM, AHMA. This is of geat concern to me, as I use this. It is very helpful in assisting in learning what a person’s body needs and wants taken care of first. It is especially helpful in patients who present as very toxic, and you know you cannot safely detox them until you get them a bit healthier first. It takes the guesswork out of the order of treatments. An example is a patient who has heavy metal toxicity. We know that the literature says to detox heavy metals or the underlying infections will not resolve. All said and good. I had a client who was obese, with symptoms in many areas,gluten intolerance, and very toxic. With the muscle testing, it was determined that she has a hormonal imbalance and gluten intolerance, which wanted to be addressed first.
How can we get this helpful modality to be studied and recognized?
Thank you.
I have three (count them, three!) teenagers, and I’ve got to say that cell phones and texting have forever changed the way that teens interact with each other. Fast texting has become the life skill that replaced fast typing, and some of their friends are particularly addicted to this new form of communication. Even when a friend isn’t there in physical space, they are ever present in virtual space. In fact, complaints in movie theaters have shifted from cell phones ringing to teens texting each other and disturbing others with the light of their monitor. Heck, even my parents and my brother now use texting as their main way to get in touch with me. This may be more convenient, but one question has not yet been answered - can this be harmful to us?… (more)
